The 11th annual Ranchers’ Quarter Horse Breeders Association Sale was held at the Seven  Down Arena on Sunday, August 28th. The sale day began at 9am with the 2nd Annual RQHBA Ranch Horse Futurity. Two and Three Year Old horses purchased through the RQHBA competed for a $600 purse sponsored by The Wrangler Horse & Rodeo News.  Contestants had to perform a basic ranch obstacle course and reining pattern.  Taking Top Honors was Paul Greimsman riding Gotta Dandy Vandy, a 3 yr old mare sired by Gotta Sweet Leo / owned by Judy Philips of WY and bred by Gary and Deb Mailloux of Mailloux QH. They received $300 and a Champion Buckle sponsored by Tri-State Livestock News. Other Ranch Horse Futurity Winners: Reserve Champion: Tivs Hired Hand - ridden by Rhonda Matt / owned by Cliff Matt / bred by Chad and Mindy Hubert- H Open 6 QH, receiving  $200 and a hay bag sponsored by DeTye Vet Supply 3rd Place: Moon Jet Classic - owned by Jason Reed / bred by Glen and Janet Long-Long QH,  winning $100 and a gift certificate to FMG Feeds. Prior to the sale, Winners of the Don Brunner Memorial/RQHBA $2500 Yearling Futurity were presented with their cash awards ($2500 purse sponsored by Black Hills Riding Club, Sally O’Malley’s, RCQHA and Pizza Ranch of Sturgis): Don Brunner Memorial Yearling Futurity Winners: Champion Stallion:  Cowboys Main Chex - owned / exhibited by Collin Palmer / bred by Le'Ann Bender, Bender Ranch Champion Mare: GJL Cowboys Sugar - owned by Gary & Shirley Waddell / bred by  Glen and Janet Long, Long Quarter Horses Champion Gelding: Lonsum Duster - owned by Alice Baker / exhibited by Amanda Willliams / bred by LeRoy & Shirley Wetz, Stirrup Ranch   Buyers were represented from OR, CA, MN, MT, ND, SD, and WY. Sale Highlights: Top selling colt- Sired by PC Ikewood Oaks owned by S Herron and sold to Lorence Edoff of SD for  $1300.00 Reserve colt-   Cowboys Lucky Joe sired by Sir Bea Cowboy owned by Glen and Janet Long and sold to Ed Dodson of SD for $1000.00 Top selling filly-  Watch Me Go Cowgirl sired by Sir Bea Cowboy owned by Glen and Janet Long and sold to Le Ann Bender of SD for $1000.00 Reserve filly-  High Style Cowgirl sired by Sir Bea Cowboy owned by Glen and Janet Long and sold to Le Ann Bender of SD for $950.00    92% of weanlings sold and averaged $506. Top yearling filly- Flash Me A Jewell  sired by Talls Executive owned by Brunner Quarter Horses sold to Jacki Wahle of WY for $900.00 Top yearling gelding- YO Silver Cider  sired by Hancock Silver Tonka owned by Merrill Ranch sold to Jay Mattson of SD for $600.00   Top riding mare- Star N Shine owned by Doug Bliek sold to Dennis Drayton of SD for $4900.
